Located approximately 55 miles south of Tampa on Florida's Gulf Coast, Siesta Key, Florida is an eight-mile-long barrier island connected to Sarasota by two bridges.

Founded in 1846, there are now approximately 24,000 full- and part-time residents of Siesta Key.
While all the conveniences of modern life are easily accessible, Siesta Key is still remote enough to give one a feeling of old Florida. Bursting with lush foliage, mature trees and tropical flowering shrubs line the winding routes to the village and the beaches. The beaches are refreshingly natural, with protected wild sea oats and mangroves providing a protective habitat for the scores of native island birds that share the island, as well as the dolphins, manatees and other aquatic wildlife living just offshore.In 1987, Siesta Beach was judged "the World's Finest and Whitest" beach. Made from 99% pure quartz, the beach sand is soft, floury and cool to the touch.

It is a favorite among people from all over the world. The beach facilities include picnic areas, restrooms, concession stands, playground, trails, and tennis and volleyball courts. The nightlife on Siesta Key is great- the laid back Siesta Village offers a wide variety of restaurants and bars, boutiques, and surf shops. Fine dining and clubs can also be found on this great Sarasota barrier Island.

Property prices are at a premium on Siesta Key. Single family homes can be found from around $850,000, but many of these are very small and the value lies in the land only. The prices for a single family home can rise in excess of $6,000,000.00 with stunning Gulf-front vistas. Siesta Key is known for its architectural eclecticism and pristine waterfront properties. Condominiums start in $400,000.00's and can exceed $3,000,000.00. Siesta Key condominiums vary in style- from high rise penthouses, to free standing bayside villas.

As of January 2006, recent sales of Residential homes averaged from $ 500,000 to
$ 5,900,000 with current ACTIVE listings in the range from $700,000k to over $7,500,000.

Condos recent sales were from $300,000 to over $3,100,000 with current ACTIVE listings in the range from $ 300,000 to over $2,900,000.
